November 4, 2010 – Bocada has released a “high performance” version of its Prism backup reporting suite called Prism R2, which includes features such as five new trending reports to help administrators better understand their backup environments and identify areas for improvement.
Prism R2 allows administrators to view the amount of data being backed up over a given time period, compare static backup windows with backup duration trends, and analyze the impact of backup trends on media volumes over time. The software also shows storage changes over time and includes error count trending.
Prism works with most major backup applications, including those from IBM, Symantec, EMC, HP, CA, CommVault, Syncsort and Microsoft (DPM 2010).
Bocada is in the process of migrating customers from its Enterprise product to Prism, which Bocada officials characterize as a transition from backup reporting to Data Protection Service Management (DPSM), according to an article posted on Enterprise Storage Forum.
