Cloud hosting provider Contegix says that it has come up with a cloud offering that gives customers multiple tiers to choose from combined with a mix and match feature set that provides a wide array of selections of services and capabilities.

Contegix Monday announced an expansion of its Contegix Cloud Computing platform that it has dubbed MiraCloud, which provides three basic tiers of service -- convenience class, business class, and enterprise class.

"With the introduction of MiraCloud, Contegix is redefining how the cloud is delivered and can be managed, giving customers the option to customize their cloud platforms to provide ultimate freedom of choice, without sacrificing uptime or quality of service," a company statement said.

The lowest tier, Convenience class, provides a self-managed solution that is designed for the needs of developers, experienced professionals or small business operations -- users have complete control over space, security, and accessibility, according to Contegix.

MiraCloud Convenience class features a kernel-based virtual machine (KVM) hypervisor and consistent fast storage, the statement said.

Meanwhile, MiraCloud Business class service also provides a self-managed cloud environment, but features a XenServer hypervisor and upgraded storage units for added data security. In addition, customers have access to Contegix's support engineers to help with setting up cloud infrastructure.

The highest tier, MiraCloud Enterprise class service uses VMware's ESXi hypervisor and features access to Contegix's Tier 3 engineers.

While all three tiers offer guaranteed access to CPU and RAM resources, there are some differentiating factors.

For instance, only the business and enterprise offerings provide host maintenance with live migration, and only the enterprise tier offers a fault tolerant virtual machine as well as a 99.9 percent service level agreement (SLA).

However, MiraCloud also presents customers with the ability to choose elements from each tier to suit various mission critical needs, creating a hybrid solution, Contegix said.

"For example, companies can choose different MiraCloud tiers for various applications, multiple hypervisor support, and mixed needs within the Contegix public cloud and a customer's private cloud. In addition, each platform type can be supported by Contegix at the level of service determined by the customer," the company added.
