--Extending their long-running partnership, CommVault and Dell announced the certification of CommVault’s Simpana 9.0 with Dell’s DX Object Storage Platform. Dell also announced the PowerVault DL2000 appliance, which is now powered by Simpana 9.0.

--STEC’s 200GB and 400GB ZeusIOPS SSDs have been qualified for integration into the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) system. The drives are supported by HP’s management software, including StorageWorks Command View EVA and StorageWorks Business Copy EVA.

--Chelsio Communications’ ESX/ESXi 4.02/4.1 and Virtual Multi-port drivers for its 10GbE adapters have achieved VMware Ready status for VMware ESX. Chelsio’s Unified Wire adapters and drivers are now listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility List.
--Asigra and Artisan Infrastructure have partnered to allow MSPs and VARS to offer cloud backup services based on NetApp storage systems. Asigra specializes in cloud backup and recovery software, and Artisan provides Infrastructure-as-a-Service.
--Xiotech, Silver Peak Systems, GlassHouse Technologies, Pano Logic and Virsto Software have formed the VDI Coalition, which is focused on helping companies deploy Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). In a survey of 1,200 IT professionals conducted by Silver Peak and Xiotech at VMworld earlier this year, almost 70% of the end users said they planned to deploy VDI within the next 12 months. However, they cited concerns about the end-user experience, cost, and vendor performance claims as the key gating factors to adoption.
