Marathon adds CDP

By Ann Silverthorn

December 4, 2007—Marathon Technologies has added continuous data protection (CDP) software—dubbed everRun CDP—to its everRun family of availability software. The announcement also focused on disaster recovery with full WAN support to remote repositories.

everRun software is designed to reduce or eliminate downtime due to system, storage, or network connection failures. Company officials that the CDP option provides another level of protection from catastrophic failure by capturing and replicating application data across any distance in real time.

Marathon's everRun line protects Windows applications from leading sources of downtime while eliminating the need for costly and complex fail-over processes or proprietary server hardware. The software relies on embedded intelligent policy management to prevent application downtime.

"We can now offer customers the next level of the stack, the data level, to protect against corruption and unwanted deletions and changes," says Michael Bilancieri, director of products at Marathon.

Prior to the release of everRun CDP, Marathon recommended compatible CDP products from third parties. Marathon OEMs its everRun CDP software from TimeSpring.

everRun CDP allows IT managers to recover data from any point in time (APIT). It is designed to ensure application data is safe, up to date, and readily available at a remote location.

The everRun CDP software includes application-specific options for Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and SharePoint.

everRun CDP is priced from $1,800.
