- The Storage Bridge Bay (SBB) Working Group recently announced the availability of the SBB 2.0 specification, which defines increased commonality of the physical form factor of SBB slots and canisters. The SBB also announced that Sun has joined as a promoter member and as a member of the board of directors, which also includes Dell, EMC, IBM, Intel, LSI, Network Appliance, and Xyratex.
- Dell has completed its $1.4 billion acquisition of EqualLogic.
- FaceTime Communications, a provider of offerings that control greynets and manage Unified Communications in the enterprise, and Mimosa Systems have partnered to create comprehensive, scalable products for secure and compliant archival of enterprise communications. The combined product will deliver business communications archival for business-critical documents, e-mail, calendar and contact items, public IM networks, enterprise IM networks, professional community networks, and Web conferencing.
- Isilon's new X-Series clustered storage systems have been certified and integrated with VMware ESX Server 3.0.
- ProStor Systems' InfiniVault archive appliance has been certified to run with Kazeon Systems' Information Server software.
- Pivot3, the inventor of high-definition storage based on distributed RAID, has received $24 million in series C venture funding led by Mesirow Financial Capital Partners IX. Participation in this round also included new investor Silver Creek Ventures, and existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and InterWest Partners.
- Cisco and Emulex announced the availability of a storage networking product that runs on VMware virtualization infrastructure and incorporates Emulex LightPulse 4Gbps host bus adapters (HBAs), Cisco MDS Fibre Channel switches, and VMware ESX Server 3.5.
