-- BDT AG, a supplier of tape automation systems to OEMs, has licensed ProStor's RDX Core technology, which is the foundation for the RDX removable disk drive technology. BDT plans to develop multi-terabyte systems based on RDX technology.

-- Abtech Systems has teamed with IBM to resell the XIV Storage System. Abtech is a solutions provider specializing in server and storage systems, virtualization services, support and consulting.

-- Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is using Panasas NAS storage for its new Cielo petascale supercomputer. This implementation is intended to be the fastest computer in the world, and will be the second supercomputer used by LANL to leverage Panasas' high-performance storage.  

-- NAS vendor Avere Systems unveiled a new channel partner program for its FXT Series of appliances. The new program is designed to expand Avere's footprint into vertical and geographic markets. Avere has already signed ten new partners under the program. FXT appliances contain a mix of SSD and/or HDD storage media to accelerate the performance of active data.

-- Enhance Technology's UltraStor RS16 IP-4 iSCSI SAN storage array is now certified by VMware for the ESX Server 4.0 and vSphere 4 virtualization platforms and is now listed in VMware's compatibility guide. The UltraStor RS16 IP-4's architecture integrates RAID control from within VMware's vCenter management console and allows IT administrators to take advantage of an array's native storage software such as multi-pathing and snapshots to run on their mission critical business applications.

-- Unitrends announced that all of its backup appliances have been certified for use with the Ubuntu operating environment through a partnership with Canonical, the commercial sponsor of the Ubuntu project. Unitrends now supports Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix, Ubuntu  9.10 Desktop Edition, and Ubuntu 9.10 Server Edition and is actively working to certify Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

-- 3PAR announced that it has launched its first sales and customer service office in India and has named Arvind Khurana as country manager.
