-- Scale-out storage startup Coraid has closed a $10 million Series-A financing round with Allegis Capital and Azure Capital Partners to accelerate the development and adoption of the Coraid EtherDrive storage platform. The company claims its EtherDrive storage arrays enable a scale-out SAN architecture starting at under $500 per terabyte and scaling to multiple petabytes.

-- Bell Micro has signed a distribution agreement with Neterion for its 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) X3100 series of network adapter cards, which can be used in server/network/storage environments. The adapters are compliant with the Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) specification.

-- American Megatrends (AMI) announced its new StorTrends 2400im IP-SAN and 2400nm NAS data storage appliances. The StorTrends 2400im IP-SAN storage appliance merges Ethernet-based SAN and NAS on a single storage platform. Both StorTrends 2400 IP-SAN and NAS systems offer Volume Replication, Data Snapshots, Auto Provisioning, the ManageTrends web GUI and solid "green" credentials.

-- GreenBytes' GB-X Series data deduplication storage appliances have been qualified for use with NetBackup through the Symantec OpenStorage Technology (OST) program. The integration allows users to manage end-end client/server backups and electronic vaulting DR (disaster recovery) copies off-site with performance gains, reduced backup times, enhanced data reduction, and off-host replication copies, while maintaining NetBackup catalog awareness for all copies, according to GreenBytes.

-- Atempo has enhanced the data deduplication capabilities and virtualization support for Atempo Time Navigator, the company's flagship backup and recovery platform. The block-level deduplication in Time Navigator is featured in the new version of the software's Atempo HyperStream Server module. The software features an enhancement of the VMware agent with vSphere support, as well as new Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix Xen agents that will deliver full virtual machine backup and restoration capabilities.

-- 3PAR is offering two new 3PAR InForm software plug-ins for VMware vSphere and VMware vCenter Server that provide virtual machine (VM)-aware snapshots, rapid online VM recovery, and VM-to-storage mapping.
