Exabyte and Ecrix have finalized their merger, enabling Exabyte to serve the lucrative tape storage automation, high-performance, and large volume "DDS replacement" markets. In the transaction, Exabyte issued 10 million shares of common stock, while Exabyte sold 9.65 million shares of its newly issued Series H preferred stock for $9.65 million to certain parties related to Ecrix. The combined company now operates under the Exabyte name. Separately, IBM will OEM Exabyte's Mammoth-2 external tape drives. The drives offer IBM iSeries users up to 150GB of capacity with sustained transfer rates up to 30MBps.

Vixel's SAN management software, SAN InSite, is now available to end users. SAN InSite allows users to centrally discover, monitor, and manage all the devices in their SAN, regardless of the device manufacturer or location on the network. The general availability of the software follows a private label OEM transaction with Fujitsu Softek, a distribution partnership agreement with UK-based Sagitta Systems, and special offerings extended to its Fibre Channel switch customer base.

Tandberg Data has introduced its DLT VS Autoloader, a 2U form factor DLTtape device. The unit uses eight DLTtape cartridges that rotate in a carousel around the center-mounted DLT ValuSmart VS80 tape drive. The autoloader will be available through global sales channels beginning next month.

FalconStor Software and Officer Distribuidora SA have entered into an agreement, whereby Officer Distribuidora will promote, market, and service FalconStor's IPStor network-based storage services to storage providers, application service pro viders, and storage/server appliance vendors in Brazil.

Data Survival, a provider of electronic data backup and storage in the southeastern US, and Titan Data Safe, an Oklahoma-based provider of data- protection services, will offer EVault's online data backup-and-recovery product to their customers.

Amerivault has announced an expanded partnership with Compaq Global Services to facilitate real-time online data recovery. The arrangement extends online backup to companies that have previously relied exclusively on traditional tape backup.

Atempo (formerly Quadratec Software) has signed a technology supplier agreement with Compaq, whereby Atempo will supply Compaq with an NDMP interface for its StorageWorks NAS. The new interface will enable backup and restore of StorageWorks NAS data without loading any software on the system while leveraging NDMP functionalities.

Microsoft has certified FalconStor's IPStor with its Windows 2000 Datacenter Server for enterprise-class data protection on IP/iSCSI and Fibre Channel storage networks.

Gadzoox Networks' 1Gb Capellix series of switches and 2Gb Slingshot family of products have been certified by Overland Data with the Neo series tape libraries and Fibre Channel option card in various SAN configurations.

Sanrise has released its storagetone Data Management Software Suite Version 4.0, which comprises a transactional OS that provides the back-office infrastructure to manage enterprise storage resources; Global Storage Intelligence that acts as the "mission control" for all life-cycle events in an enterprise SAN; and mystoragetone, the Web-based management portal and e-care interface.

Sistina Software and Compaq announced an agreement through which they expect to drive increased levels of performance, availability, and scalability for Linux-based storage clusters running industry-standard Compaq ProLiant servers.

Legato Systems and Fujitsu have established an OEM agreement, enabling Fujitsu to have ongoing access to Legato NetWorker, SmartMedia, and Celestra offerings.

Nexsan Technologies has reached a partnership agreement with Penta Laboratories, bringing its line of InfiniSAN RAID storage and D2D backup solutions to Penta's customers with a focus on broadcasting market opportunities.

Sistina Software and Paralogic have established a partnership, whereby Paralogic will be able to provide data management and storage systems using Sistina's Global File System. Separately, in a partnership with Sistina and Caliber Computer, Caliber will be able to provide data management and storage systems that comprise Caliber's hardware pre-configured with Sistina's Global File System.

Zambeel has announced a second round of funding led by investors Kleiner-Perkins Caufield & Byers, New Enterprise Associates, Integral Capital Partners, and others.

StorageTek and Tech Data have entered into a value-added distributor agreement to let Tech Data distribute StorageTek's L20, L40, and L80 series of tape libraries through its network of VARs in the US.

St. Bernard Software, a provider of security solutions that prevent data loss, system threats, and Internet abuse, has signed an OEM agreement with BakBone Software to integrate its latest open file backup solution, Open File Manager, with BakBone's backup-and-recovery software, NetVault 6.5. Separately, St. Bernard signed an agreement with STORServer to integrate Open File Manager into STORServer's line of backup appliances.

EMC is now selling Quantum's new P7000 enterprise-class library with both DLT 8000 and LTO Ultrium tape drives as part of the EMC Data Manager (EDM) backup-and-recovery solution for open systems.
