-- Brocade announced the completion its acquisition of network switching and routing vendor Foundry Networks for $16.50 per share in cash. Brocade will use Foundry's technology to round out its portfolio of data center networking systems and to address emerging market technology trends, according to Brocade's CEO, Michael Klayko.

-- IBM has chosen Emulex's LightPulse 8Gbps Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) for use with the new IBM Power Systems servers. The HBAs support N-Port ID Virtualization (NPIV), which virtualizes SAN connections so that individual virtual machines have independent access to their own protected storage.

-- ExaGrid Systems has enhanced its disk-based backup system with new features including instant disaster recovery capabilities, higher performance connectivity options, expanded data handling and automated system health reports. The system offers new support for 10GbE interfaces and now keeps the most recent full backup at a customer's disaster recovery site in a non-deduplicated form, ready for high-speed recovery in the event of a disaster at the primary location.

-- Hewlett-Packard (HP) has selected CRU-DataPort's Data Express DX115 SAS/SATA removable hard drive enclosures for use with HP's workstations and PCs.

-- Permabit and email archiving provider ZL Technologies (ZL) have entered into a partnership under which Permabit's Enterprise Archive Data Center has been certified with ZL's Unified Archive software, zDiscovery, zCompliance, zStorage, and zSecurity products.  The joint solution combines the ZL application grid with the Permabit storage grid.
