Confluence Networks, a developer of next-generation network-based storage management platforms, has completed a $28.3 million second round of venture capital funding, bringing total investment to approximately $45 million. Venture Strategy Partners led the round, joined by previous blue chip investors Redpoint Ventures and New Enterprise Associates. New investors include Dali Hook Partners, Comcast Interactive Capital, and Seagate Technology.
TidalWire has acquired McData's HBA business. The strategic relationship leverages McData's SAN hardware, software management, and support with TidalWire's HBA fulfillment and support capabilities. Under the terms of the agreement, McData will outsource its HBA business to TidalWire and has appointed TidalWire as its provider of HBA services worldwide. McData previously managed customer HBA requirements internally.

The Website features an extensive database of job listings searched by position, location, or specialty area; resume posting; online recruiting services; up-to-date news, events, and announcements; continuing education information; and access to key industry links.
Ikadega, a NAS appliance vendor, has ceased operations after being in business for two years. The Northbrook, IL-based company had raised $15 million in venture capital, including an $8 million round in March 2001 led by Chicago-based Kettle Partners, with participation from local firms BlueStar Ventures, Leo Capital Holdings, and OCA Ventures.
TrelliSoft's StorageAlert/Apps for Microsoft SQL Server and StorageAlert/Apps for Sybase are now available for customers in its Early Adopter program. StorageAlert has a single GUI and a common policy engine to automate and enforce storage policies enterprise-wide for Windows, Unix, Linux, NetWare, SQL Server, Sybase, and Oracle. By monitoring and managing the storage associated with an application and its underlying databases, StorageAlert/Apps can help reduce storage costs and eliminate storage-related application problems such as downtime or over-allocated, unused space.
Quantum and Maxell have settled all legal claims between the companies over the qualification, production, and sale of DLTtape media products. Quantum and Imation also have committed to completing qualification of Imation as a manufacturer of DLTtape media. As a result of the settlement, Imation has dismissed its antitrust lawsuit against Quantum and Maxell. All counterclaims filed by Quantum and Maxell arising from this dispute have also been withdrawn as part of the settlement.
EMC's CLARiiON now supports Compaq Tru64 Unix operating environments, enabling customers to combine the power of networked EMC CLARiiON enterprise storage systems and software with Compaq AlphaServers running the Tru64 Unix operating system and Compaq TruCluster high-availability clustering software.
StorageTek announced the availability of SnapVantage, a Web-based GUI software solution that, in conjunction with StorageTek's Shared Virtual Array subsystems, enables rapid deployment and recovery of multiple Linux virtual servers hosted under Virtual Machine (z/VM) on a single IBM mainframe server.
Veritas Software has selected Adexis, the storage division of Cranel, as one of the first national solution providers to offer Veritas' ServPoint NAS software. Separately, StorageTek has selected Adexis as a national reseller of the StorageNet 6000 (SN6000) series of storage domain managers, a family of virtual SAN products. Under the terms of the agreement, Adexis will offer the SN6000 product line to customers nationwide, enabling enterprises to seamlessly consolidate their storage assets across all their open systems hosts and applications.
LXI's Tape Tracker 3.5 is now certified for Tivoli Storage Manager 5.1. Tape Tracker consolidates tape information from multiple backup servers and network backup products, including the iSeries 400.
Emulex's LightPulse 2Gbps LP9002L Fibre Channel HBA has been selected by Fujitsu Siemens Computers for integration into its PRIMERGY and PRIMEPOWER server series. The LP9002L features automatic speed negotiation capability that enables backward-compatibility with existing 1Gbps Fibre Channel SANs, while allowing seamless upgrades as the industry moves beyond 2Gbps SANs.
TidalWire and Antares Microsystems (manufacturer of high-end I/O peripherals for SPARC and Intel-based systems) have established a distribution partnership, whereby TidalWire becomes the master distributor and technical support provider to more than 200 Antares reseller partners worldwide. The distribution agreement is the first for Antares, which has until now managed product distribution internally.
Infortrend has a distribution agreement with Bell Microproducts, whereby Bell will market and distribute Infortrend's SCSI, Fibre Channel, and IDE RAID products.
BakBone Software and SANRAD, a global provider of iSCSI storage virtualization switches, routers, and bridges, announced interoperability between SANRAD's iSCSI V Switch and BakBone's NetVault. The companies have also partnered to introduce the combined solution to the iSCSI market.
DataCore Software announced its SANvantage partnership with CommVault Systems. The two companies are jointly delivering enterprise class data protection to customers in the Microsoft Windows environment.
Legato Systems has signed a strategic technology and marketing agreement with Microsoft that provides Microsoft a license to implement selected Legato technology. The agreement provides the foundation for joint sales and marketing activities and builds on the formation of the Microsoft Enterprise Storage Division.
Dot Hill Systems has entered into a multi-year product purchase agreement with Sun Microsystems, whereby Dot Hill will produce and private-label certain products for Sun. As part of the relationship, Dot Hill will issue warrants to Sun, providing Sun with the opportunity to own about 5% of the outstanding common shares of Dot Hill.
