Cambridge Computer recently started a New England-area users group focused on storage networking technologies. The Storage Networking Users Group of New England (SNUGNE) is dedicated to bringing together individuals in the New England area who share a common interest in learning about and discussing the latest data storage and backup technologies, trends, and issues. Topics will include SANs, NAS, backup systems, data replication, server clustering, virtual storage, high-availability, hot sites, e-mail management, performance computing, and document archiving. Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of each month in Waltham, MA. For more information, or to suggest a meeting topic/speaker, go to

Decru's DataFort FC440 security appliance and Nishan's IPS 3300 and IPS 4300 IP storage switches are fully interoperable. The combination of Nishan's IPS 3300/4300 IP switches with Decru's DataFort allows enterprises to expand access to their SAN infrastructure, protecting data both in flight and at rest.

FalconStor Software has certified Alacritech's new TCP/IP accelerated drivers for Linux as fully interoperable with its IPStor software. The companies will provide NAS customers with Alacritech's 1000x1 Gigabit Ethernet Accelerator and IPStor for a high-performance storage management architecture. Separately, Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has chosen IPStor to power the migration appliance, which provides online data transport between storage systems without interrupting data access in the production environment.

Chaparral Network Storage has secured $8.2 million in funding led by Athenian Venture Partners, bringing total capital raised to $49 million.

StoreAge Networking Technologies has been awarded Certified Partner status by Microsoft, whereby StoreAge will be provided with enhanced resources in developing and deploying SAN storage management solutions that centralize and simplify the provisioning, performance optimization, and protection of storage in Windows-based environments.

ADIC is helping IT departments keep up with increasing data-protection demands by doubling the capacity and throughput of its line of LTO automated tape libraries. The upgraded libraries include ADIC's intelligent management features, high-performance scalability, and integrated SAN support.

DinoStor and Reliaty have announced mutual certification for Reliaty Backup and for DinoStor TapeServer. The combination enables users to take advantage of distance and speed enhancements by attaching tape storage devices on a network instead of directly to a dedicated server.
