EMC announced the availability of VisualSRM and VisualSAN, the first EMC-branded products to result from its acquisition of Astrum Software and Prisa Networks earlier this year. Both products are targeted at the midrange market. Separately, the company announced several enhancements to its Navisphere, SnapView, and SAN Copy software applications.

Veritas Software's OpForce software will be bundled with new hardware shipping from Intel, including Intel Enterprise Blade Server Family and Itanium processor-based servers. Veritas' provisioning software will ship as Intel Deployment Manager by Veritas OpForce.

XOsoft has established a new partnership program aimed at broadening market and service opportunities around its Data Rewinder and WANSync product offerings. The XOsoft Global Partner Program maximizes business relationships through a tiered approach, primarily based on potential partners' focus on the enterprise data-protection market, their resources, and their level of commitment. XOsoft's Teaming Partner agreement, designed for consulting firms or systems integrators with either a vertical market or disaster-recovery domain-specific focus, will enable these organizations to establish a joint marketing relationship with XOsoft, with the option to provide implementation services.

AmeriVault and NY-based Montague Technology Management, a provider of business continuity management solutions, have formed a strategic partnership. Montague will resell AmeriVault's online backup solution in conjunction with value-added technology services.

Intransa has expanded its integration channel with the addition of seven new channel partners: StorCom, Async Associates, Computer Land, Technology Exchange, Data Staff, Cambridge Computer, and Daymark Solutions.

Speedera Networks, a global content delivery service company, has introduced Smart Storage Manager, a policy-based storage management service that enables companies to place the most popular streaming media and downloadable content on a globally distributed network of servers. Using a configurable policy-based management system, customers can define tradeoffs between best performance and lowest-cost storage.

Arkeia announced the availability of a hot backup plug-in for IBM DB2 databases. Using a combination of Arkeia backup with DB2 servers, database managers can protect mission-critical data and avoid expensive downtime for users.

Storability Software has secured $7 million in financing, bringing the company's total funding to date to $66 million. Existing investors Battery Ventures, Technology Partners, Sprout Group, and Lee Munder Venture Partners participated in the round.

Legato Systems has signed an agreement with IBM that enables IBM to sell Legato's EmailXtender, EmailXaminer, and Disk-

Xtender 2000. The agreement provides IBM customers and Business Partners with access to solutions for efficiently routing, storing, and retrieving e-mail information. The solution uses EmailXtender family products and will be available for Lotus Notes/Domino and Microsoft Exchange/ Outlook customers.

EMC is the first OEM partner to qualify the newest members of Emulex's LightPulse family of HBAs, the LP10000 and dual-channel LP10000DC, as E-Lab Tested. EMC's qualification with Symmetrix and CLARiiON networked storage systems running Linux, Windows, and Solaris marks the general availability of the LP10000 HBA product family into the marketplace.

OuterBay introduced its ADM Catalyst Partner Program to help its customers choose systems implementation, software integration, and platform vendors to establish application data management (ADM) practices within their organization. OuterBay has established partnerships with several companies, including EMC, Oracle, and Sun. OuterBay's newest partner is

AdvizeX, a systems integrator that provides infrastructure and application solutions.

Pacific Digital is implementing Agere's standards-compliant high-speed interconnect technology in its next-generation host adapter for SAN applications. Agere is supporting the design of Pacific Digital's upcoming high-performance Serial ATA (SATA) storage controller for entry and midrange servers using Agere's SATA-compliant serializer-deserializer (SerDes) technology. Separately, Agere announced that it has shipped more than 100 million systems-on-a-chip (SoCs) for storage hard disk drives.

Texas Memory Systems and Topspin Communications have formed a technology partnership to provide database users with a high-performance solution that leverages their investment in critical applications. The solution, which combines Texas Memory Systems' RamSan solid-state disk and Topspin's Switched Computing System, alleviates I/O bottlenecks and latency.

Intransa has established a strategic partnership with Satyam Computer Services Ltd. , a consulting and IT services company. Satyam will offer technical support, testing, and development services to ensure the implementation and delivery of the IP5000 IP-SAN. Separately, Intransa has entered into a joint marketing agreement with MonoSphere, which provides cross-platform Automated Storage Management (ASM) software solutions, to offer data migration and central backup solutions to IP5000 customers.

Adaptec's iSCSI host bus adapters have been certified ca smart with Computer Associates International's BrightStor ARCserve Backup.

Yosemite Technologies has expanded its reseller program to include Ingram Micro's GovEd Alliance Program. Ingram's GSA program is designed to support resellers by working with Ingram's manufacturer partners to obtain letters of supply, certifications, and GSA pricing. Yosemite's participation in the GovEd Alliance enables resellers to add its TapeWare software to their GSA Schedules.

XOsoft, a provider of business continuity software solutions, has released a new beta version of WANSync for the Linux platform. WANSync, which until recently supported Windows and SunOS-based platforms, is a WAN-based application integrity and availability solution. It ensures seamless availability by synchronizing entire application and database servers to remote replicas and keeping them fresh and available with continuous, real-time replication.

Darma announced its NAS operating system for OEMs and system builders that manufacture NAS servers, NAS-SAN gateways, and disk-based backup appliances. The technology behind the OS is an encrypted Java client-server approach that delivers data-center-level security and performance along with a graphical user interface (GUI). The Darma NAS OS is a Linux-based operating system with a small footprint of approximately 32MB.

Iron Mountain has a new Data Restoration and Electronic Discovery Support service designed to help businesses respond swiftly to the increasing demands for restoration of electronic data during litigation discovery. The service helps organizations gather, restore, search, organize, and deliver e-mail and other records for litigation discovery and regulatory investigations.

Northern has unveiled the Northern Professional Services (NPS) program to simplify the implementation of the company's suite of storage resource management solutions to end users. NPS will provide customers with one or two days of on-site consultation, training, and support from a Northern Storage engineer who will guide system administrators through all phases of implementation, including the development and automation of storage policies, enterprise-wide software installation, configuration and system maintenance.

Sun Microsystems, Hitachi Ltd. , and its wholly owned subsidiary, Hitachi Data Systems have extended the terms of their global distributor agreements and related collaborative agreements for an additional two years.

Plasmon has named Kodak Service & Support, a business of Eastman Kodak Company, its exclusive worldwide service provider for a period of five years. Kodak Service & Support will provide warranty and contract support services worldwide for Plasmon's G-Series 5.25-inch Magneto-Optical (MO) libraries, D-Series DVD optical libraries, and V-Series Tape autoloaders and libraries. Kodak will also service Plasmon's G-Series UDO (Ultra Density Optical) libraries scheduled to start shipping later this year.
