EMC, BMC get tighter. EMC recently became a Foundation Partner in BMC Software's Business Service Management (BSM) initiative, a broad plan to enable organizations to align IT management with business processes. The two companies have completed Phase 1 of their product integration partnership. EMC's ControlCenter software can now send storage-specific events to BMC's Patrol Enterprise Manager suite, which speeds root cause analysis. The next step in the integration partnership is to provide further integration of ControlCenter and the IT Service Management (ITSM) suite from Remedy (which BMC acquired) and BMC Service Impact Manager.
