We recently completed a reader survey that in part asked you to rank your interest in a number of relatively new technologies. Readers were asked to rank 14 emerging technologies from "very high interest" to "no interest." Here's the rundown on technologies that got the most "very high interest" votes:

If you combine "very high interest" and "high interest" vote getters, the top five technologies were the following:

However you slice it, our readers are very interested in disk-to-disk backup and IP SANs (iSCSI). But in the case of iSCSI, although users express high interest, they're not voting with their wallets. In the same reader survey almost 63% of the respondents had no plans to implement iSCSI. About 7% have already implemented it, 11% will implement it within the next six months, and 19% will deploy iSCSI SANs in 6 to 12 months.

In any case, we will continue to use your responses to tailor our editorial content to meet your areas and levels of interest.
