The SCSI Trade Association (STA) recently announced its new board of directors for 2005. Re-elected to the position of president is Harry Mason (LSI Logic). New members of the STA board of directors include Martin Czekalski, vice president (Maxtor); Paul Griffith, secretary (Broadcom); and Linus Wong, treasurer (Adaptec).

The Storage Networking Industry Association’s (SNIA) Data Management Forum (DMF) have formed a Continuous Data Protection (CDP) special interest group within the Data Protection Initiative (DPI). The founding members of the CDP Special Interest Group (SIG) include Alacritus, EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, InMage, Mendocino, Mimosa Systems, Network Appliance, TimeSpring, Revivio, Scentric, Storactive, Sun Microsystems, Veritas, and XOsoft. The group will promote and develop standardized terminology to describe the technology, practices, and features of data protection. It will also develop the technical requirements for a CDP data services interface standard within the Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S).

Hitachi Data Systems announced availability of Hitachi TagmaStore Universal Storage Platform virtualization support for EMC Symmetrix and Clariion disk arrays.

GlassHouse Technologies has acquired PowerPM, a NY-based project management consultancy specializing in the financial services industry.

Adaptec has entered into a strategic alliance with Vitesse Semiconductor to develop and market SAS products.

Bell Microproducts signed a distribution agreement with Zetera to resell Zetera’s just-introduced family of IP network storage solutions.
