-- Tarmin Technologies announced that its GridBank 1.5 secondary storage and archiving platform integrates with Nirvanix's cloud storage platform.

-- NextIO has entered into an agreement with Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of Avnet. Under the terms of the agreement, Avnet will act as NextIO's primary integration partner and exclusive distributor of NextIO's I/O virtualization solutions to its IBM reseller partners in the US and Canada.

-- Extreme Networks announced that it is working with Scale Computing to produce low-cost storage networking solutions. Extreme Networks will offer its BlackDiamond 8800 modular switching family with Scale's SN1000 and SN2000 storage nodes. Scale's TrueCluster architecture supporting iSCSI, NFS, and SAMBA/CIFS. TrueCluster costs only $15,000 for 6TB of usable capacity.

-- Plasmon is rising from the ashes. Alliance Storage Technologies announced that it has re-established manufacturing, engineering, software development, distribution and worldwide support and maintenance services for Plasmon's UDO-based Archive Appliance and G-Series library products. Alliance became the owner and exclusive manufacturer of Plasmon brand technologies in January 2009.

-- StorMagic, a developer of iSCSI SAN management software for virtualized server environments, announced the availability of a validated configuration for StorMagic SvSAN and VMware Infrastructure 3 for ESX 3.5 software on the Intel Server Board S5520UR. This server configuration was developed jointly by StorMagic and Intel engineers through the Intel Enabled Server Acceleration Alliance (Intel ESAA).

-- Metalogix Software is offering its Metalogix Archiving Express for SharePoint archiving software for free. Metalogix Archiving Express for SharePoint automates enforcement of retention policies for all SharePoint content and provides search, retention and disposition capabilities to help companies execute internal policies and meet Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) requirements. SharePoint administrators can download the new freeware product from the Metalogix website.

-- Pillar Data Systems has entered into a new distribution agreement with Synnex, a business process services company. Under the terms of the agreement, solution providers and value added resellers can take advantage of Synnex's distribution capabilities when sourcing Pillar's Axiom Storage Solutions.
