CAS community, an educational online community based on content-addressable storage (CAS), has been founded by EMC, Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), Hewlett-Packard, Permabit, and Sun Microsystems to foster dialogue, broaden market awareness, and educate customers on the issues and importance of long-term storage of unchanging digital assets. An online forum of technologists, practitioners, users, and developers, the community is intended to foster discussion through peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, customer-vendor interaction, and the exchange of best practices for records retention and compliance through data storage technologies. The site features a variety of educational resources, including research reports, resource centers, and networking forums to serve its members. CAS community is a “virtual town hall” in which members can network and share information with their peers and others on CAS-related business challenges and solutions.
