-- Solid-state storage vendor Fusion-io has extended its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) relationship with HP to provide the company with PCI Express-based IO Accelerators for the HP ProLiant DL and ML server line. The Fusion-powered IO Accelerator is already available with HP's BladeSystem platform for use with ProLiant server blades. The new PCI Express form factor IO Accelerator will be available for use with ProLiant servers in 160 GB and 320 GB SLC capacities and 320 GB and 640 GB MLC capacities.
-- Hosted Solutions announced the availability of new features associated with its Stratus Cloud Storage service. The upgraded service provides expanded replication of data between Hosted Solutions' SAS-70 Type II data centers in North Carolina and Boston, as well as tools to facilitate access without programming. The Stratus Cloud Storage service was built on EMC's Atmos platform and TwinStrata's CloudArray technology.
-- GreenBytes' GB-X data deduplication appliances are now available in Europe through Dutch distributor Consolidate IT and a number of resellers in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK. GreenBytes' Hybrid Storage Architecture (HSA) combines high-performance solid-state storage technology 2.5" SATA drives, inline data deduplication, simultaneous SAN and NAS connectivity, MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) disk power state management and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) connectivity.
-- Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) announced a series of new capabilities for the Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) 2000 family, including SAS disk drives for high-density trays and an expanded rack capacity to deliver high density tiered storage. Hitachi Data Systems also announced new multiprotocol host port options for AMS 2100 and 2300 models.
-- LSI introduced the CTS2600 family of configurable storage components for white box channel partners. The LSI CTS2600 family is designed for small and medium-sized enterprises in direct-attached and SAN environments and includes controllers, storage enclosures and disk drives. According to LSI, the CTS2600 family features multiprotocol host connectivity with 6Gbps SAS and 1Gbps iSCSI or 6Gbps SAS and 8Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) interface options.
-- Maxell Corporation of America announced the availability of its DAT 320 tape cartridge. In addition to a larger storage capacity of 320GB, the DAT 320 has a transfer rate of up to 24MBps. It also utilizes a metal evaporated tape with superior recording characteristics, such as high output and low error rate. Simultaneously, the DAT 320 format features encryption capabilities currently employed by the LTO Ultrium format.
-- Chelsio Communications, a provider of 10GbE adapters, ASICs, and storage solutions, announced the availability of version 1.1 of its Unified Manager software, targeted at managing converged networks. Unified Manager centrally manages all Chelsio network adapter cards on the network across Windows and Linux environments. UM 1.1 is available today from Chelsio and its resellers through a $995 license agreement.
