IBM is using Plasmon’s Ultra Density Optical (UDO) drive/media/automation technology in its new line of System Storage 3996 optical libraries for eServer iSeries systems.

Sun has selected Seagate’s Savvio disk drives for its Sun Fire 64 (x86, 64-bit) servers.

Atempo launched its Select Partner Program with the announcement of a distribution partnership with Bell Microproducts.

Bus-Tech’s Mainframe Appliance for Storage (MAS) tape controller is now qualified with Network Appliance’s disk systems and Decru’s DataFort encryption appliances.

Emulex has begun shipments of its 4Gbps Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) to its distribution partners, including ACAL, Bell Micro, Info X, Tech Data, and Tokyo Electron. The HBAs include the LP11000 and LPe11000 for PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express host systems.

Brocade will conduct its third annual technical education seminar series in 10 cities across North America this fall. The free one-day seminars focus on training and education for end-user customers and resellers and will offer strategies to address cost, complexity, and compliance issues. PolyServe has expanded its OEM agreement with Hewlett-Packard under which PolyServe’s File Serving Solution for Windows Storage Server 2003 will be bundled and sold as part of HP’s Enterprise File Services Clustered Gateway.

QLogic’s SANblade QLAR200 HBAs and SANbox Express 1400 switches have passed the requirements of the Microsoft Simple SAN Initiative. As part of this initiative, Microsoft is working with storage partners to help drive the creation of simple SAN solutions for Windows Server 2003.

BakBone has expanded its channel program to include a new partner advisory council, additional training courses, enhanced Web portal, and an inaugural Partner Summit slated for January 17-19, 2006. BakBone also unveiled its Partner Advisory Council (PAC), a group of nine channel partners.

Compellent Storage Center is now qualified as interoperable with McData’s Intrepid, Sphereon, and Eclipse switches.

Dot Hill’s SANnet II line of storage systems has been certified with FalconStor’s IPStor Enterprise Edition and VirtualTape Library (VTL) software.
