Mimosa Systems has secured $11 million in its second round of venture financing, bringing the company's total funding to $17.5 million. This Series B round was led by JAFCO Ventures, with participation by current investors August Capital, Clearstone Venture Partners, and Lighthouse Capital Partners.

Quantum will add the DLTSage Tape Security feature to its firmware beginning in early 2006. The feature will be available on Quantum's newest drives and will control access to data that resides on tape cartridges. In related news, Quantum will also begin reselling Decru's DataFort encryption appliance in early 2006. Quantum also plans to offer native encryption on its tape drives, autoloaders, and libraries in the first half of 2006.

Maxell Corporation of America has created a government, education, and medical (GovEdMed) program so government agencies, educational institutions, and medical facilities can best meet their increased data storage requirements.
