Bell Microproducts is now a US distributor for Apple’s server and storage products, including the XServe and XServe RAID systems.

Emulex’s 4Gbps dual-channel and single-channel PCI-X and PCI-E Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) have achieved Solaris 10 certification.

EMC and Captiva Software have a definitive agreement for EMC to acquire Captiva. EMC will pay $22.25 per share in cash, or approximately $275 million net of Captiva’s cash balance. The transaction is subject to regulatory and Captiva stockholder approval and is expected to be completed in either late 2005 or early 2006. Separately, EMC has recently acquired Ft. Collins, CO-based Acartus.

DataCore Software has joined the VMware Technology Software Alliance program.

Primera Technology’s OptiVault Archival Appliance is now powered by EMC Dantz Retrospect software. Separately, EMC will resell QLogic SANbox 3050 Fibre Channel switches as part of its EMC Select Program. The switches come as individual products or as part of bundled solutions with the EMC Clariion CX300 disk arrays.

Fuji Photo Film USA introduced tape media designed for the Sun StorageTek T10000 Enterprise Tape Storage system.

Asigra’s Televaulting software will be incorporated into HP’s Electronic Vaulting Services for Enterprises, a managed service that includes installation/configuration and housing of the vault at HP data centers.

Texas Memory Systems and ONStor announced their solid-state file server that reportedly boosts performance by eliminating all mechanical latencies. The file server combines Texas Memory’s RamSan line of solid-state disks and ONStor’s NAS gateways.

NetEx and Sanrad are partnering to provide remote replication via NetEx’s HyperIP Data Replication Optimizer (DRO) and SANRAD’s Global Disaster Recovery solution for IP SANs.

BearingPoint, a global management and technology consulting firm, and EMC expanded their relationship to include development of specialized services and technology solutions to help customers manage and protect business information throughout its lifecycle.

Idealstor has tapped Bell Microproducts as a channel partner. Bell will market the Idealstor Backup Appliance and the company’s array of storage products, including FrankeNAS and Ibac Data Protection Software.

ONStor and Xiotech have a new joint NAS solution that combines ONStor NAS Gateway technology with the Xiotech Magnitude 3D Storage solution to create a NAS system featuring scalability to 40PB.

QStar Technologies has partnered with Abrevity, a provider of data classification and search and indexing utilities, for content-discovery and data-classification applications in the life science research industry.
