  • Symantec has signed a definitive agreement to acquire IMlogic, a manufacturer of enterprise software for instant messaging. IMlogic's technology provides a complete solution to control and secure public and enterprise IM networks while ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate governance policies. The acquisition is expected to close shortly after receiving customary regulatory approvals.
  • Western Digital has doubled the capacity of its next-generation 10,000rpm WD Raptor enterprise Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive to 150GB and has increased the performance of the drive with additional features for server and networked storage applications. The drive offers random I/O performance with native command queuing (NCQ), 16MB cache, and an average seek time of 4.6 milliseconds.
  • CaminoSoft announced strong sales for its fiscal fourth quarter and record sales for the year ended September 30, 2005. Net sales for the fiscal fourth quarter jumped 74.3% to $584,834 from $335,562 a year earlier. For the same period, the company reported a net loss of $243,655, or $0.02 per share, compared with a net loss of $0.04 per share a year ago.
  • The ILM Summit will be held from Feb. 13-15 in Irvine, CA. According to organizers, the event is the first stand-alone conference in the US dedicated entirely to information lifecycle management (ILM). It will feature full-day tutorials on Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and an introduction to ILM, panel sessions, and exhibits. The show addresses multi-tiered storage systems, regulatory and compliance issues, security, content management, virtualization, ILM best practices, the future of ILM, IT's role in the enterprise, and how to reduce storage costs.
