  • Dynamic Network Factory (DNF), a maker of high-performance NAS, SANs, RAID, and iSCSI systems, has acquired StoneFly Networks. Effective immediately, StoneFly Networks' company name has been changed to StoneFly Inc. StoneFly will continue to maintain its San Diego headquarters, operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of DNF with a directive to expand its line of iSCSI storage solutions into integrated and modular configurations.
  • Sun Microsystems and Imation will work toward the development and launch of an extension to the existing Sun StorageTek T9840 drive platform. The companies will investigate alternative recording media technologies, including Imation's Ulysses technology, for potential future integration into Sun's automated tape library product line. In addition, Imation has become an approved supplier to Sun StorageTek for branded LTO-2 and LTO-3 tape cartridges.
  • The SCSI Trade Association (STA), a member-run industry association established to support and promote SCSI technology, announced their newly elected board of directors for 2006. Re-elected to the position of president was Harry Mason of LSI Logic, president from 1995 through 2000 and again from 2002 to 2006. New board members are Don Jeannette of Fujitsu and Susan Bobholz of Intel. Martin Czekalski, Linus Wong, Paul Griffith, Tonya Comer, Rachelle Trent, and David Allen were re-elected for another one-year term.
  • Sepaton and ONStor have a joint partnership to enable rapid NAS backup and restore using virtual tape technology. The companies will deliver data-protection solutions comprising ONStor's NAS gateway and Sepaton's S2100-ES2 virtual tape library (VTL) appliance.
  • Dallas-Fort Worth-based One Safe Place Media, a provider of off-site data storage, selected Xiotech's Magnitude 3D storage solution to provide improved data storage and disaster-recovery services for its customers.
  • LeftHand Networks as expanded open iSCSI SAN support for the HP ProLiant DL380 G4 SAS server, which uses LeftHand SAN/iQ technology.
  • LSI Logic's Engenio storage systems have achieved Solaris Ready certification within the Sun Cluster Open Storage Program.
  • Xiotech has qualified and will resell the Brocade SilkWorm 200E Fabric Switch with Xiotech's Magnitude 3D network storage solutions.
  • MR2 Solutions, a full-service network integration firm providing professional consulting support and outsourcing services, has joined Idealstor's network of reseller business partners.
  • Chelsio Communications and Nimbus Data Systems have a partnership to incorporate Chelsio acceleration technology in an upcoming line of iSCSI storage systems from Nimbus. The new iSCSI storage systems incorporate Nimbus' HALO software integrated with Chelsio's Terminator-based iSCSI acceleration solutions.
  • Softek Storage Solutions has expanded its relationship with Sun Microsystems that will enable Sun and its reseller partners to install and activate Sun StorageTek mainframe- and open systems-attached storage arrays using Softek's data migration software, without disrupting customer applications during the process. The company has also recently become a member of the Sun Partner Advantage Program for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs).
