Intel has founded the Intel Storage Community (ISC), bringing together more than 40 storage vendors, integrators, and application developers whose goal is to meet the demand for storage solutions based on Intel building blocks. ISC members post information about their storage products on the Solutions Directory. Members include Aarohi, Accelerated Technology, Accusys, Adaptec, Adtron, American Megatrends, ApplianceWare, Areca Technology, Ario, Atto, BlackBall, Bsquare, Cyclone Microsystems, ExaGrid, Exanet, FalconStor, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Hitachi GST, I-O Data Device, Lanner Electronics, LeftHand Networks, LSI, Mediabolic, Mitac, Montilio, Overland, Promise Technology, QSAN, Rasilient, Revivio, Sabio Digital, Sanmina-SCI, Santrum Networks, Seagate, Silverback, Thecus, TimeSys, Wasabi, Western Digital, and Yosemite Technologies.

Emulex has entered into a multi-year distribution agreement with Ingram Micro, which is also a distributor of IBM and Hewlett-Packard products. Ingram Micro will distribute Emulex’s LightPulse family of Fibre Channel HBAs.

XOsoft has an alliance with BMC Software, whereby BMC will enhance the data-protection capabilities of its SQL-BackTrack by integrating XOsoft’s WANSync with embedded CDP technology.

Cloverleaf Communications has completed interoperability testing between its Intelligent Storage Networking system and the NetApp FAS200, FAS3000, and FAS900 systems supporting NAS, SAN, and iSCSI.

Alacritech has a partnership with emBoot Inc., a supplier of network boot products, to provide netBoot/i software to Alacritech customers. Alacritech’s accelerators have been qualified and natively support netBoot/i to enable Windows-based servers with Alacritech accelerators and netBoot/i to boot directly from iSCSI-based storage, accelerating the server provisioning process.

DataDirect Networks’ Silicon Storage Appliance (S2A) products have been certified for use with ONStor’s 2280 NAS gateways.

Global Technical Systems (GTS) will resell Sepaton’s S2100 family of virtual tape libraries (VTLs) as an authorized General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) participant.

QLogic introduced 4Gbps Fibre Channel HBAs that support Mac OS X. SANblade Pro QLA2460 Series HBAs, deployed in conjunction with SANbox 4Gbps switches, allow Mac users in video and graphics environments to stream data at twice the speed of existing 2Gbps storage networks. Separately, QLogic’s 4Gbps SANblade Pro Fibre Channel PCI Express (PCIe) HBAs for HP ProLiant servers are now available from HP and its channel partners, as well as from Sun Microsystems.

Exanet has inked reseller deals with Advanced Systems Group, AuraGen Technologies, Cutting Edge Audio & Video Group, Key Code Media, and Saturn Business Systems.

Finisar has expanded into the consumer market with a protocol analyzer-Bus Doctor RX-that supports the Consumer Electronics-Advanced Technology Attachment (CE-ATA) interface. CE-ATA is the next-generation interface for portable devices such as MP3 players, multimedia cell phones, digital cameras, etc. Bus Doctor RX also supports the ATA, Serial ATA (SATA), USB, and Compact Flash interfaces.

Western Scientific is integrating Chelsio Communications’ 10Gbps Ethernet adapter-the T210 Protocol Offload Engine-into its Fusion high-performance computing and FusionSA storage systems.

Tandberg Data has entered into an agreement with D&H Distributing, a computer products and consumer electronics distributor, to distribute Tandberg’s StorageLoader, InteliStor, and LTO tape drive product lines.

AmeriVault has acquired Schenectady, NY-based Capitalbackup, a service provider specializing in data protection and disaster-recovery services.

Bell Microproducts will launch a new line of network storage devices that incorporates Zetera’s SoIP technology, Z-SAN. The new product line will be released under Bell’s Hammer Storage brand.

JMR Electronics has selected Eastman Kodak Company’s worldwide service organization to be the exclusive provider of on-site warranty and post-warranty service for JMR’s complete line of storage systems.

Qualstar will integrate Imation’s new Ulysses removable disk-in-tape technology in certain models of its automated tape libraries.

Ricoh has named Kano Technologies as the North American master distributor for its Intelligent CD-R media, which incorporates Ricoh’s CD-ROM + CD-R (RR) technology. Kano has recently introduced Ricoh’s first RR product, EncryptEase for Microsoft Windows, which is recordable CD-R media with built-in encryption capability.

CA and StoreAge Networking Technologies have an agreement whereby CA will resell StoreAge’s cross-platform virtualization and multi-tiered data-protection solutions with its BrightStor intelligent storage management software. The combination will help customers simplify storage administration and enhance data protection in heterogeneous SANs.

Chelsio Communications and DSG Storage Inc. (DSG) have an OEM relationship under which DSG is offering Chelsio’s T204 quad-port GbE and T210 10GbE TOE/iSCSI acceleration adapters as embedded components of its upcoming storage systems. These products will begin shipping in Q2 2006.

3PAR and FalconStor announced Utility Virtual Tape Library (VTL), a utility-class virtual tape library solution that allows customers to scale and consolidate all of their online, nearline, and VTL application data onto a single platform. The companies also announced a technical alliance to ensure interoperability between the 3PAR InServ Storage Server and FalconStor’s VTL.

Imation and Memorex International have entered into a definitive agreement under which Imation will acquire Memorex International in an all-cash transaction worth $330 million. Additional cash consideration ranging between $5 million and $45 million would be paid out over a period of up to three years after close.

EMC has qualified QLogic SANbox 5602 4Gbps and 5202 2Gbps Fibre Channel stackable switches as EMC E-Lab Tested for use with EMC Clariion AX100 and CX300 networked storage systems.

AMCC and Nimbus Data Systems have established a strategic partnership to develop IP storage reference designs for leading server and storage OEMs. These new products will enable AMCC’s customers to accelerate their development of iSCSI storage systems built around AMCC’s embedded PowerPC processors and Nimbus storage software.
