  • Sun Microsystems will now brand, sell, and support Emulex 4Gbps PCI-X Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) for enhanced SAN connectivity. The Sun-branded Emulex PCI-X 2.0 single- and dual-channel HBA models (SG-XPCI1FC-EM4-Z and SG-XPCI2FC-EM4-Z) are now generally available for use with the Sun BladeT workstation, Sun FireT and NetraT server families, along with Sun StorageTek FlexLine storage solutions. With this announcement, Sun supports the full family of Emulex 4Gbps PCI Express and PCI-X HBAs within the Solaris OS, and Windows and Linux environments.
  • QLogic and Revivio have an alliance that enables channel partners to deliver intelligent storage network-based continuous data protection (CDP) solutions. Leveraging the QLogic SANbox 8000 Storage Services Platform and Revivio TimeOS version 5.0 software, the products will allow channel partners to meet new levels of customer data-protection services.
  • Zetera, Seagate, Bell Microproducts, and Marvell this week announced that one of the largest and highest-performance data storage arrays in the world is under construction at the Media Lab at MIT. The storage array will be used to collect and analyze video and audio data for a research project designed to better understand early childhood cognitive development. The Media Lab array is being constructed with building blocks based on Zetera's Z-SAN technology.
  • 3PAR announced the establishment of 3PARdata Ltd. (3PARdata Nippon K.K.), a Japanese subsidiary of the US corporation 3PARdata Inc.
