  • Symantec has launched an Executive Customer Advisory Council (ECAC) that is designed to offer thought leadership and guidance on the development of Symantec's strategic plans and large enterprise organization services and solutions. This collaborative effort encompasses CIOs and CTOs from major enterprises in a variety of industries and regions around the globe and provides a collaborative environment for sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices among peers. The Council held its first meeting in Cupertino, CA, in mid-June, and its next meeting is scheduled for November.
  • Decru DataFort storage security appliances have been validated for interoperability with the Sepaton S2100-ES2 Virtual Tape Library (VTL) system, a high-performance, RAID-based enterprise data-protection appliance. Separately, Sepaton and NeoScale Systems announced a secure VTL solution with FIPS 140-2 Level 3 encryption and wire-speed performance. Recently certified through interoperability testing, the combined offering features Sepaton's S2100-ES2 VTL appliance and NeoScale's CryptoStor FC appliance.
  • Xiotech is building a Business Consulting Group that integrates information management, electronic data discovery, and incident management capabilities to address the growing compliance management demands that face corporations and organizations.
  • Peer Software has a partnership with Tzolkin Corporation (TZO), a global commercial provider of DNS high-availability services. The partnership offers customers a seamless, integrated business continuity solution, enabling organizations to keep data on remote servers synchronized using Peer Software's PeerSync technology, and having automatic fail-over from primary to secondary servers using TZO's AutoFailover services.
  • Front Porch Digital has been acquired by a fund managed by Genuity Capital Partners for $38 million. The purchase price consisted of $33 million in cash at closing and up to an additional $5 million in royalty payments based upon future sales of Front Porch Digital software through the end of 2008. Genuity Capital Partners is a Toronto-based private equity group.
  • Dot Hill Systems has entered into a strategic technology partnership with Stratus Technologies. The partnership covers joint development of storage solutions utilizing key components and patented technologies from Dot Hill, including storage controllers, data management software functionality, and packaging.
  • Kazeon has secured $21 million in its second round of venture capital financing, bringing the total investment in the company to $44 million. Investors include Menlo Ventures, who led the round, and Focus Ventures, with all existing investors increasing their investment in this round of financing.
  • PacketLight Networks Ltd. has signed an agreement with Value Added Distributors Ltd. (VAD), provider of unified IT infrastructure, to be its first distributor in New Zealand. VAD will be distributing PacketLight's full line of storage extension solutions to resellers in the data storage, data management, and data security markets.
