Microsoft has acquired Winternals Software LP, a privately held company based in Austin, TX, that provides Windows-based enterprises with systems recovery and data-protection solutions in addition to offering a freeware tools Website called Sysinternals. Customers will be able to continue building on Sysinternals’ advanced utilities, technical information, and source code for utilities related to Windows. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Bell Microproducts will distribute Silverback Systems’ line of iSNAP-based host bus adapters (HBAs) in North America.

Compellent Technologies has chosen Xyratex’ 1600 series of SBODs and JBODs for use with its Storage Center SAN.

Emulex’ Sun Microsystems-branded 2Gbps and 4Gbps LightPulse Fibre Channel HBAs support the recently launched VMware ESX Server operating environment.

Copan Systems has added technology solutions integrator Helio Solutions to its reseller program.

Infortrend’s EonStor FF-R2021 and FF-S2021 Fibre-to-Fibre RAID controller heads have passed testing by the WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Lab) for base qualification of RAID systems and have attained the Designed for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 certification from Microsoft. Qualification testing is underway for other EonStor arrays.

Seagate Technology has combined Adaptec’s Unified Serial Controllers with its own Cheetah 15K 146GB Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) disk drives to deliver a SAS Evaluation Kit to system builders and resellers. Unified Serial Controllers (the Adaptec Serial Attached SCSI RAID 4800SAS and 4805SAS) support both Serial ATA (SATA) and SAS disk drives.

Attune Systems, a provider of enterprise-class network file management solutions, has become a member of the NetApp Partner Program.

Emulex announced general availability of its LightPulse LP1105-BC dual-channel HBA for use in the IBM BladeCenter. The LP1105-BC works in Windows, Linux, and AIX operating systems.
