The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has formed a new Technical Working Group (TWG) focused on Management Frameworks (MF). The proposed activities to be covered by the Management Framework Work Group will initially include reference architecture, framework data model, discovery components, event systems, user interface infrastructure, and aggregation interface core services. Separately, SNIA has also approved a change in the organization's bylaws to define the scope of its software development projects, aimed at supporting SMI-S and emerging standards like XAM.
At the Storage Networking World show this week, Vitesse announced that Hitachi Data Systems has selected Vitesse's NexSAS line of SAS-based ICs to power Hitachi's Bladesymphony blade servers and other platforms. Separately, Vitesse and Promise Technology announced the RAIDScale solution for SAS-based RAID-on-Motherboard (ROMB) designs. RAIDScale combines Vitesse's RAID-on-Chip (ROC) products with Promise's RAID software.
