  • Xiotech's Magnitude 3D 3000 storage system has received VMware ESX Server 3.0 certification. Magnitude 3D 3000 was added to the VMware ESX Server 3.0 "Storage/SAN Compatibility Guide" after successfully completing compatibility testing. The VMware Infrastructure, which includes ESX Server, allows multiple applications to run in virtual machines on the same physical server.
  • The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has announced its 2007 board of directors: Vincent Franceschini (Hitachi Data Systems), chairman; Matthew Brisse (Dell), vice chairman; Phillip Mills (IBM), secretary; and Wayne M. Adams (EMC), treasurer.
  • Network Appliance has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Topio in an all-cash transaction worth approximately $160 million. Topio, a NetApp Strategic Partner, is based in Santa Clara, CA, with research and development in Haifa, Israel.
  • Emulex' AV150 Intelligent Storage Processor is shipping with McData's Application Services Module (ASM) to enable fabric-based services. Emulex claims up to 1.4 million I/Os per second and 2,300MBps throughput. Separately, Emulex and Brocade are providing HBA and switch technologies for Hewlett-Packard's EVA4000 SAN Starter Kit. Products include Emulex's LightPulse LPe1150 4Gbps Fibre Channel HBAs and Brocade's 200E SilkWorm Fibre Channel switch.
  • SiliconSystems has signed a distribution agreement with Electro Sonic. The agreement establishes Electro Sonic as an authorized distributor of SiliconSystems' line of SiliconDrive and SiliconDrive Secure products in Canada.
  • Storewiz unveiled its Vanguard channel partner program, empowering worldwide solution providers to partner with Storewiz and sell and support the company's data compression solutions. The new Vanguard Partner Program includes qualification/certification of partners to sell Storewiz solutions; sales and technical training; marketing support, partner-only portal; and sales support.
  • Data Domain has become a VMware Technology Alliance Partner, with solutions certified for use within VMware virtualized server environments.
  • CBL Data Recovery Technologies has opened a data-recovery boutique in Paris on the Champs-Elysées.
  • Plasmon has begun initial shipments of their new UDO-DMD (Ultra Density Optical Digital Master Disk) drives and media to HD DVD content management and mastering solution providers for testing and integration. The UDO-DMD format is part of a technology and business alliance with Mitsubishi Kagaku Media (MKM), Memory Tech Corporation (MTC), and Plasmon to provide secure distribution and long-term storage of HD DVD content between authoring studios and disc mastering facilities.
