The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) and EMC Education Services will jointly recognize certification programs offered by each organization. The terms of the agreement call for mutual collaboration across the SNIA Certified Professional and the EMC Proven Professional programs and will benefit both SNIA SNCP credential holders as well as more than 14,000 EMC Proven Professionals. All specialist-level EMC Proven Professional certifications will be recognized as fulfilling the vendor requirement needed to earn SNIA Certified Storage Networking Expert (SCSN-E) status, the SNIA’s highest level of certification. In addition, the EMC Proven Professional-Associate (EMCPA-ST) and SNIA Certified Professional (SCP) designations will be considered equivalent in meeting prerequisites for follow-on certification tracks or levels in both programs.

IP SAN appliance vendor Siafu Software has integrated emBoot’s winBoot/i software with Siafu’s Swarm series of iSCSI-based IP SAN appliances, enabling users to boot Windows 2003 servers from the appliances.

Digi-Data has an agreement with JMR Electronics to assume all of JMR’s systems business. Digi-Data will continue to market the JMR 42-bay SATA enclosure to both JMR and Digi-Data’s existing base of channel partners as an additional part of Digi-Data’s product line.

Reldata’s 9200 IP Storage Gateway has received Compatibility Certification from LSI Logic. Separately, Reldata’s IP Storage Gateway 9200 has completed interoperability testing with Atto Technology’s Xtend SAN iSCSI initiator package for Macs.

Emulex has completed the acquisition of Sierra Logic. The terms of the acquisition include a transaction value of approximately $180 million in cash.

Bell Microproducts has acquired an interest in ProSys Information Systems, an enterprise solution provider.

Copan Systems’ Revolution 220T and Revolution 220TX products have achieved certification with IBM’s Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 5.3.

Plasmon has a strategic alliance with Hyland Software, developer of OnBase enterprise content management software. The alliance allows customers to leverage both vendors’ platforms as an integrated solution for regulatory compliance.

The Storage Bridge Bay Working Group (SBB) announced public availability of the SBB 1.0 Specification, which standardizes the physical, electrical, and enclosure management characteristics of the slots and canisters of storage enclosures. The SBB also announced the addition of IBM, Network Appliance, and Xyratex to its board of directors, joining founding board members Dell, EMC, Intel, and LSI Logic.
