  • The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has closed its anti-trust review of Brocade's pending acquisition of McData. Also, the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act has expired. Special meetings for stockholders of both companies will be held today (Jan. 25) and, subject to stockholder approval, the companies expect to close the transaction on Jan. 29.
  • QLogic and Alacritech have entered into a partnership to respond to the market need for multi-platform support of a 10 Gigabit TCP Offload Engine (TOE). QLogic is licensing Alacritech TCP offload patents to deliver HBAs with 10 Gigabit TOE for all operating systems, including Linux and Microsoft Windows.
  • Attune Systems, a provider of network file management products, has launched a new channel partner program that includes a Remote Scripting Ecosystem element than enables resellers and end users to add their own customized data handling scripts to the pool, in exchange for gaining access to those created by others in the pool. Another element of the program is dubbed Symphony Report Generator, which puts heterogeneous resource performance information and file data usage information into PDF reports.
  • Backup-and-recovery vendor LXI Enterprise Storage has entered into a reseller agreement with FalconStor Software. LXI will combine its Media Management System (MMS) software with FalconStor's VirtualTape Library software.
  • Digi-Data has a new partnership with James River Technical to enable JRTI's customers to benefit from Digi-Data's scalable, upgradable, and fully supported storage solutions.
  • Emulex plans to expand support for customers of the Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program across its LightPulse HBA product line.
  • Zetera Corp. has an alliance with Double-Take Software to offer Double-Take channel partners and Zetera licensees utilizing the company's Z-SAN SoIP technology simple solutions for disaster recovery and high availability.
  • Lucid8 LLC has joined the EMC Velocity2 Technology and ISV Program to develop a comprehensive e-mail performance solution that integrates Lucid8's GOexchange product with EMC EmailXtender and EMC Archive Services for Email software.
  • 3PAR has announced its Carbon Neutral Storage program. For every terabyte of Thin Provisioning capacity sold in 2007, 3PAR will purchase the equivalent carbon credits to offset the emissions of the disk drives required to deliver that capacity.
