Imation and Hi-Stor Technologies, a storage system consulting and software development company, have established a business development initiative to provide a storage device monitoring solution to improve the effectiveness of customers' tape-based storage operations. Under the agreement, Imation and Hi-Stor will work together to deploy Hi-Stor's StorSentry data integrity protection software to end-user customers.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, CA is dropping its various sub-brands (i.e., eTrust, Unicenter, BrightStor, etc.) and product brand names (i.e., PestPatrol, Endevor, FileSurf, etc.). Instead, the company will use "CA" and a product descriptor. Unicenter Service Desk, for example, will become CA Service Desk, and eTrust Access Control will become CA Access Control. Pointsec Mobile Technologies and Hitachi Software Engineering Co. Ltd. (HitachiSoft) have a renewed and extended partnership. Through an OEM agreement, HitachiSoft has added Pointsec for Pocket PC to its Hibun series of security products, to be distributed in the Japanese market under the brand name Hibun AE MobilePhone Encryption. Previously, HitachiSoft had obtained OEM rights from Pointsec for the Pointsec for PC product.
