  • EMC will sell approximately 10% of VMware via an initial public offering (IPO) of newly issued VMware stock. EMC will retain ownership of the remaining shares of VMware and has no intention of spinning out or otherwise divesting this ownership interest. Separately, EMC will expand its resale of QLogic Network Platform products to include the new QLogic SANbox 6142 intelligent storage router, which is now available through the EMC Select Program.
  • The SCSI Trade Association (STA), a member-run industry association established to support and promote SCSI technology, announced their newly elected Board of Directors for 2007. Re-elected to the position of president was Harry Mason of LSI Logic, now president for the sixth-consecutive year. New to the board are Heidi A. Smith of Hewlett-Packard and Martin Or of Emulex. Paul Vogt of Adaptec completed an unfinished term of office by a colleague who resigned last year and was elected to a new term in 2007. The remainder of the nine-person board was re-elected for another one-year term.
  • QStar Technologies has achieved qualification of its HSM archive management software with Veritas NetBackup 6.0 software through the Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP).
  • Acronis has joined the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). Membership in the Oracle PartnerNetwork allows Acronis access to resources and training.
  • Nexsan Technologies' SATABeast storage array and Exanet's Exastore - ICM have been jointly tested and qualified, offering enterprise customers infinite scalability and simplified management in a unified NAS solution. With the announcement, Exanet becomes the latest member of Nexsan's Strategic Solutions (S2) Program.
  • JNetDirect has a distribution partnership with Sonasoft whereby JNetDirect will distribute and support Sonasoft's SonaSafe for SQL Server to JNetDirect's customers.
  • Onaro has established an Israeli research and development and support facility to accommodate the company's rapid growth. The new facility will be opened in Tel Aviv in March and will include engineering and support personnel.
  • Abrevity has signed a partnership agreement with Forsythe Solutions Group, a national IT infrastructure integrator. Forsythe is adding Abrevity's Information Classification and Management (ICM) software solutions to its portfolio.
  • Wasabi Systems is a member of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner Program. Its Storage Builder for IP-SAN product provides seamless support for VMware ESX Server and for virtual machines running on that platform.
  • NeoScale has a strategic partnership with RSA, the Security Division of EMC, to offer NeoScale's CryptoStor Tape and CryptoStor FC Disk encryption appliances to joint customers.
  • EMC has extended its partnership agreement with FalconStor through 2013 and will continue to offer FalconStor's open virtual tape library (VTL) to its customer base.
  • SenSage announced the availability and tight integration of SenSage event data collection, processing, and analysis systems with Network Appliance's enterprise storage and compliance solutions.
  • SteelCloud has become the latest adopter of FarStone's RestoreIT disaster-recovery technology, which is to be incorporated in its appliance management software suite.
