EMC has extended its partnership with FalconStor through 2013 and will continue to resell FalconStor’s virtual tape library (VTL) software.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, CA is dropping its various sub-brands (i.e., eTrust, Unicenter, BrightStor, etc.) and product brand names (i.e., PestPatrol, Endevor, FileSurf, etc.). Instead, the company will use “CA” and a product descriptor. Unicenter Service Desk, for example, will become CA Service Desk, and eTrust Access Control will become CA Access Control. 3PAR and Riverbed have partnered to deliver a disaster-recovery consolidation solution that includes Riverbed’s Steelhead appliances and 3PAR’s InServ Storage Servers with Remote Copy.

Acopia Networksis teaming with IBMGlobal Services to deliver services that integrate Acopia’s ARX systems into IBM Global’s solution sets. 

NeoScale’s CryptoStor Tape security appliance has been qualified by Symantec and Hewlett-Packard within their respective testing programs-the Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP) and the HP Tape Automation Compatibility (TAC) Partner Program.

iStor Networks has named StorageRep LLC as a worldwide manufacturing representative for the video market. 

QLogic’s SANblade 4050 Series iSCSI HBAs now support VMwareInfrastructure 3. Separately, EMC has qualified QLogic’s SANbox 9100 and 9200 Fibre Channel core switches as EMC E-Lab Tested for use with Clariion and Symmetrix DMX systems.

Abrevity has signed a distribution agreement with Tech Datathat enables the distributor to resell Abrevity’s Information Classification and Management (ICM) software.

The SCSI Trade Association (STA) announced its new Board of Directors for 2007. Re-elected to the position of president was Harry Mason of LSI Logic. New to the board are Heidi A. Smith of Hewlett-Packard and Martin Or of Emulex. Paul Vogt of Adaptec completed an unfinished term of office by a colleague who resigned last year and was elected to a new term in 2007. The remainder of the nine-person board was re-elected for another one-year term.

QStar Technologies’ HSM archive management software has achieved qualification with Veritas NetBackup 6.0 software through the Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP).

Nexsan’s SATABeast storage array and Exanet’s Exastore - ICM have been jointly tested and qualified. With the announcement, Exanet becomes the latest member of Nexsan’s Strategic Solutions (S2) Program.  

Abrevity has signed a partnership agreement withForsythe Solutions Group. Forsythe is adding Abrevity’s Information Classification and Management (ICM) software solutions to its product portfolio.

NeoScalehas a strategic partnership with RSA, the Security Division of EMC, to offer NeoScale’s CryptoStor Tape and CryptoStor FC Disk encryption appliances to joint customers. Separately, Decru, a NetApp company, also has a partnership agreement with RSA.

LeftHand Networks has expanded its iSCSI SAN portfolio with support forIBM System x3650 servers. Separately, LeftHand announced that iSCSI SANs powered by SAN/iQ 6.6 and the HP ProLiant DL380 servers have been certified with VMware ESX Server 3, a component of VMware Infrastructure 3.

The Storage Networking Industry Association(SNIA) announced that its Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) has been designated an International Standard by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Texas Memory Systems’ RamSan-400 has obtained the “Ready for IBM DB2” designation.

QLogic and Alacritech have entered into a partnership for multi-platform support of a 10 Gigabit TCP Offload Engine (TOE). QLogic is licensing Alacritech’s patents to deliver HBAs for all operating systems.

Attune Systems, a provider of network file management products, has launched a new channel partner program that includes a Remote Scripting Ecosystem element than enables resellers and end users to add their own customized data-handling scripts to the pool, in exchange for gaining access to those created by others in the pool. Another element of the program is dubbed Symphony Report Generator, which puts heterogeneous resource performance information and file data usage information into PDF reports.
