XenSource has signed an OEM agreement with Symantec to embed Veritas Storage Foundation into XenEnterprise and collaborate on delivering HA/DR and backup technology to XenSource customers.

Hifn has acquired Siafu Software.

Hewlett-Packard is acquiring Opsware Inc. for about $1.6 billion. The deal is expected to close by October 31.

Xyratex has joined The Green Grid, a non-profit global consortium of companies dedicated to energy efficiency.

Arsenal Digital Solutions has launched its multi-tiered Arsenal Armory Program, which enables partners to capitalize on data-protection services for small to medium-sized businesses. As part of the launch, Arsenal introduced partners HexiSTOR, Jamcracker, and SoftNet Technology

SunGard will be purchasing VeriCenter, a provider of managed hosting, collocation, and infrastructure services. VeriCenter will become part of SunGard Availability Services, a provider of information availability and business continuity services.

Oracle and Symantec certified Veritas data-center software with Oracle Enterprise Linux.

GlassHouse Technologies has acquired Chicago-based server virtualization consulting company RapidApp. In addition to server virtualization, the acquisition extends GlassHouse’s offerings into virtual storage, virtual desktop infrastructure, and application delivery and deployment services.

NeoScale has launched its Key Partner Program, which includes value-added resellers and distributors such as Zycko, Agylisis, and Zunesis. Separately, NeoScale has a distribution agreement with Avnet whereby Avnet will provide services and support for NeoScale’s storage security appliances.

QLogic is collaborating with Hitachi Data Systems to introduce the Hitachi iSCSI SAN Kit. The kit, which includes QLogic’s SANblade 4050 iSCSI HBAs, was designed for Hitachi’s iSCSI Adaptable Modular Storage and Workgroup Modular Storage systems and has been designated a “Microsoft Simple SAN Solution” for Windows environments.

Atempo, BakBone, CA, EMC, and Symantec have certified Data Domain’s VTL software for use with their backup software.

Autodesk is now integrating ATTO Technology’s 4Gbps Celerity Fibre Channel HBAs as part of its visual effects and editing solutions.
