– Allaying doubts about its commitment to tape, Oracle recently announced support for LTO-5 tape drives and media in all of its StorageTek tape libraries.

Oracle also announced that its SL8500 Modular Library System can now scale to 150PB, or up to 100,000 tape cartridge slots, by linking ten libraries.

LTO-5 specs include a cartridge capacity of 3TB, assuming 2:1 data compression, and features such as partitioning and the Linear Tape File System (LTFS).
