-- Intel has announced the availability of the Intel Solid-State Drive (SSD) Toolbox, with Intel SSD Optimizer and firmware update, for its 34nm Intel X25-M Mainstream SATA SSDs. The firmware upgrade and Intel SSD Optimizer use the Windows 7 ATA Data Set Management Command (known as Trim) to help keep the Intel SSD running at continued high performance, according to the company. For 34nm X25-M 160GB owners, the firmware update also offers a performance boost to sequential write speeds by delivering up to 100MBps, a 40% performance improvement over the existing firmware version. Users can download the firmware upgrade and the Intel SSD Toolbox and Optimizer from Intel's website.

-- 3PAR released several software upgrades for the 3PAR InServ Storage Server aimed at the cloud and enterprise data centers. The new software features from 3PAR – Synchronous Long Distance Remote Copy, Persistent Cache, and RAID MP (Multi-Parity) – are designed to help protect 3PAR Utility Storage customers against disasters, preserve service levels in the event of a component outage, and protect against double disk failures. Synchronous Long Distance replication is bundled in the latest version of 3PAR Remote Copy. Persistent Cache and RAID MP are enhancements to the latest version of the InForm Operating System. These versions of Remote Copy and the InForm Operating System are both available today.

-- Brocade is teaming up with Thales for integrated encryption. The companies announced the integration of the Thales Encryption Manager for Storage (TEMS) with Brocade's encryption SAN switching products.

-- Cloud backup and recovery software provider Asigra has expanded its Hybrid Partner Program for value added resellers (VARs) and managed service providers (MSPs). Asigra's channel offering now includes the 3D Hybrid Partner level, giving VARs and service providers the ability to leverage SAS 70 certified Asigra partner backup vaults for service delivery. The program also includes a new pro-rata partner incentive structure based on pro-rata contribution that provides the opportunity for partners of any size to receive the same margins and benefits, to level the playing field between large and small partners, according to Asigra.
