  • FalconStor Software has partnered with Total Tec Systems, a systems integrator, to offer FalconStor storage virtualization appliances and data protection appliances to the mid-market.
  • According to Ovum RHK, optical marketing has hit another six-year high. This is largely because Alcatel-Lucent exceeded $1B in quarterly revenues and outpaced growth of the overall market in 4Q07.

    • BlueArc has agreed to resell the Brocade StorageX file virtualization and management software solution. The Brocade storage solution is designed for file virtualization, migration, and replication. Storage X is designed to solve file-management challenges in distributed heterogeneous environments, including, migration, consolidation, remote-office management, centralized backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
    • Brocade has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Strategic Business Systems (SBS), a privately held provider of IT professional services for medium-size and large enterprises in both the commercial and federal government sectors.

    • CipherMax announced that its CM140T tape storage encryption product has successfully completed interoperability testing with IBM's System Storage TS3200 Tape Library product equipped with both LTO-3 and LTO-4 tape drives and has been confirmed as IBM System Storage Proven.
    • Dell and VMware said they are helping to simplify virtualization for customers with a strategy that will deliver Dell PowerEdge servers embedded with VMware ESX 3i hypervisor with a "single click."
    • LeftHand Networks today announced SAN compatibility and support for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, for Storage Management and Interoperability for Windows environments.

      • EMC has a definitive agreement to acquire Seattle-based Pi Corp., a privately held developer of software and provider of services for personal information management. Pi founder and CEO Paul Maritz will join EMC as president and general manager of EMC's newly created Cloud Infrastructure and Services Division.
      • QLogic has completed validation testing of its suite of InfiniBand products with the IBM DB2 data server portfolio, including DB2 9.1 "Viper."
      • Hifn's new Channel 100 Partner Program for its Swarm iSCSI IP SAN storage appliances contains three tiers based on annual sales volume—Fast Start, Freeway, and Autobahn—and is designed to help VARs use and leverage Hifn's iSCSI expertise as they move to grow their iSCSI knowledge and business.
      • Storwize has joined the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program.
      • Gear6 has launched its Accelerate Partner Program (APP), a new channel initiative that has thus far attracted 11 charter partners covering North America: Bedrock Technology Partners, Cambridge Computer, Dallas Digital Services, Future Computing Solutions, Groupware Technology, Incentra Solutions, Insight Investments, Integrated Storage Consulting Services, InterVision, Trace3, and WebHouse.
      • LXI Enterprise Storage has joined Mimosa Systems as an authorized reseller in the Mimosa Partner Advantage Program.
      • Copan Systems and Luminex Software, a developer of mainframe connectivity and virtual tape products, have a partnership to enable mainframe users to take advantage of Copan Systems' Enterprise MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) for mainframe data-protection offerings.
