  • DataCore Software has secured $30 million in financing with investments from Insight Venture Partners and Updata Partners.
  • PMC-Sierra and Hitachi Global Storage Technologies have successfully achieved interoperability between PMC-Sierra's end-to-end 6Gbps SAS chipsets and Hitachi 6Gbps SAS prototype hard disk drives (HDDs). PMC-Sierra's 6Gbps SAS chipsets include the Tachyon SPC 8x6G SAS protocol controller, the SRC 8x6G RAID-on-Chip controller, and maxSAS SXP 36/24x6GSec expander switches.
  • BakBone Software is now certified with Data Domain. According to company claims, the combination of BakBone's NetVault: Backup and Data Domain's advanced de-duplication storage systems give customers high-performance data protection that provides concurrent, scalable backup operations and seamless integration.
  • Hifn and Freescale Semiconductor announced the first storage reference design resulting from their previously announced technology development collaboration. Cofio Software Inc. has adopted the reference design and is deploying its ViStor Virtual Tape Library Software to the joint solution.
  • Asempra Technologies has a technology and reseller partnership with Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd. Under the terms of the agreement, Hitachi will resell Asempra's Business Continuity Server (BCS), which when combined with Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage and Simple Modular Storage storage systems, provides SMBs and mid-market customers with advanced business continuity and disaster-recovery capabilities.
