Dell is integrating Hitachi Global Storage Technologies’ 3.5-inch, 15,000rpm Ultrastar 15K450 SAS drives into its PowerEdge Server and PowerVault Storage product lines. The 450GB drives have a power efficiency index of 0.03 watts/gigabyte, an average seek time of 3.3 milliseconds, and an average latency time of 2 milliseconds. In addition to 3Gbps SAS, the drives are available with 4Gbps Fibre Channel interfaces.
Brocade and EMC have an expanded alliance whereby they will integrate technologies from RSA, The Security Division of EMC–including the RSA Key Manager for the Datacenter solution–with the fabric-based encryption technology that Brocade is currently developing.

PHNS, an IT and business process service firm focused on the healthcare industry, has acquired remote online backup pioneer AmeriVault. AmeriVault will operate as a PHNS subsidiary together with PHNS’s Network Technology Group (NTG) subsidiary, which also provides data protection and other IT services.
Asempra has a technology and reseller partnership with Hitachi Data Systems. Under the terms of the agreement, Hitachi will resell Asempra’s Business Continuity Server (BCS).
