– EMC made a number of data deduplication announcements this week, including the introduction of the DD670 disk-based backup appliance. The DD670 combines Intel Xeon Processor 5500 CPUs and the Data Domain SISL architecture to double backup performance over previous midrange Data Domain appliances.
EMC claims performance of up to 5.4TB per hour of aggregate inline deduplication throughput, and 76TB of raw capacity (or up to 2.7PB of logical capacity with 50x data reduction).
