-- Brocade announced that Hewlett-Packard will resell the Brocade 8000 Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) switch. Brocade also announced that its 4Gbps and 8Gbps Fibre Channel HBAs have been tested on HP ProLiant servers and StorageWorks MSA and EVA disk arrays.

-- The Storage Performance Council (SPC) has released the SPC Benchmark 1C/E, a benchmark for measuring and reporting energy use in addition to storage system performance. SPC 1C/E is an extension of the SPC-1C benchmark.

-- Isilon's IQ series platforms and new Backup Accelerator have completed certification with CommVault's Simpana data protection software. Isilon has also announced an integrated enterprise backup solution combining Isilon's new Backup Accelerator and Atempo's Time Navigator software.

-- Spectra Logic is offering Symantec's NetBackup and Backup Exec software integrated with its line of tape- and disk -based backup products, including Spectra's T950, T680, T380, T200, T120, T50e, nTier700 and nTier500.

-- Application acceleration startup Asankya announced that it has extended its parallel networking technology to boost performance challenges inhibiting the growth and global scale of cloud- and SaaS-based applications. The company claims its parallel networking algorithms deliver 40X throughput improvement for Internet-based applications.

-- SunGard Availability Services is now offering a disk-based, online backup and recovery service dubbed SunGard Secure2Disk. Secure2Disk backs data up to an onsite SunGard appliance, which be used as an online and off-site vault to protect information. Before the data is transmitted to SunGard, Secure2Disk deduplicates the data to reduce network bandwidth and storage consumption, and encrypts the information before it leaves the customer's datacenter.

-- Emulex announced that it is working closely with Oracle to provide converged network support for end users who deploy Emulex LightPulse 10Gbps Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) in Oracle Enterprise Linux and Oracle VM environments. Emulex's common LightPulse drivers supporting CNAs and Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) have been certified with Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.8.

-- Seanodes has launched a U.S.-based reseller program for VARs interested in combining Exanodes VM Edition Storage Virtual Appliances with VMware. Seanodes is offering margins of 100% for the first 90 days.

-- I/O virtualization vendor NextIQ has received a $15 million round of Series D funding. The company plans to use the funds to accelerate the delivery of its second-generation Express Connect products and pursue market opportunities for I/O virtualization.
