-- Fusion-io has entered into an OEM agreement with HP for the StorageWorks IO Accelerator, a NAND flash-based storage adapter based on Fusion ioMemory technology. Fusion-io claims that the accelerator card provides more than 100,000 IOPS, 800MBps read and 600MBps write throughput, with access latencies of less than 50µs.

-- FalconStor Software is now offering a backup enhancement option for VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) that optimizes backup processes by separating them from the production environment. The FalconStor HyperTrac Backup Accelerator for VCB integrates with FalconStor Network Storage Server (NSS) to facilitate no-impact backups for virtual machines.

-- Western Digital has raised the capacity of its WD ShareSpace small office network storage systems to 8TB and improved its read and write speeds by 30% for large media files in an effort to speed up both backup and storage. The new 8TB capacity WD ShareSpace storage system costs $1,699.99.

-- Windows data migration software vendor AutoVirt is offering a free tool intended to help customers discover underutilized Windows file server and NAS resources in physical, virtualized and mixed environments. The new AutoMap site survey tool, which is available from the company's website, identifies utilization issues and can be used in fine-tuning storage assets and defer additional server and NAS purchases, according to the company.

-- Caringo has announced that it has been awarded the US Patent for transparently upgrading a hash algorithm for assuring data integrity and authenticity. Caringo's CAStor software cerates storage clusters for unstructured data or content objects providing for long-term archiving. The hash algorithm calculates a digital signature or fingerprint for data and the resulting digest is used to prove the authenticity of data in storage or an archive over time. CAStor customers are now able to select the newer hash, which applies to all new records entering the system as well as updates the signature for all previously stored content.
