Emulex's OneConnect Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs) have been selected for 10Gbps FCoE connectivity for the Cisco Unified Computing B-Series Blade Server and C-Series Rack Mount Servers, and have been qualified for use with Cisco's Nexus family of Unified Fabric Switches. The UCNAs provide full hardware offload support for TCP/IP and FCoE.

Cloud storage provider Oxygen Cloud recently launched with a service that includes end-to-end encryption and collaboration tools. The company also announced a partnership with Data Robotics under which users of Data Robotics' Drobo FS array can create a private cloud and back up data on Drobo devices to a public cloud.

Dot Hill has signed an OEM agreement with Japan Computing Systems, which will market Dot Hill's 2722 and 2732 Fibre Channel disk arrays to resellers and end users in Japan. Dot Hill also signed a distributor agreement with France's PACT Informatique covering Dot Hill's AssuredSAN 3000 and 2002 systems.

Intel's X25-M (mainstream) and X25-V (value) solid-state disk (SSD) drives are now available from Best Buy. The 80GB X25-M is priced at $299.99, and the 40GB X25-V SSD is priced at $129.99. The SSDs are designed for desktops and mobile devices.

At the World Cup soccer tournament in Johannesburg, the SAN in the International Broadcast Center consists of an Apple Xsan server, Promise Technology VTrak E-Class RAID arrays and eight 8Gbps, 20-port  Fibre Channel 5802 stackable switches from QLogic. The switches are configured in two fabrics with two four-switch stacks connected via 20Gbps Fibre Channel ISLs.

PMC-Sierra's maxRAID Storage Manager and PCIe-based BR5225-80 RAID adapter have passed SNIA's Conformance Testing Program (CTP) provider suite for the SMI-S 1.4 management standard.
