-- Sony's Storage Media Division has signed the LTO 5 licensing contract with the Technology Provider Companies (TPC), an industry consortium consisting of Hewlett-Packard (HP), IBM and Quantum. This agreement now allows Sony to start development of its LTO 5 Ultrium tape media.

-- BlueArc is partnering with NTP Software to resell NTP's QFS and File Data Reporter software. The NTP suite provides real-time control and management of storage use, storage analytics, and financial modeling.

-- Bell Micro has signed a distribution agreement with Neterion for its 10GbE X3100 series of network adapter cards, which can be used in server/network/storage environments. The adapters are compliant with the Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) specification.

-- DataCore Software's storage virtualization technology is supplying the storage management piece of an all-virtual private data center (vPDC) platform developed by Host.net. Host.net delivers private cloud computing services for companies ranging from SMEs to large enterprises, utilizing a software-based approach.

-- Atempo announced enhanced data deduplication capabilities and expanded virtualization support for Atempo Time Navigator, the company's backup and recovery solution. Performance improvements include enhanced automation in the movement of deduplicated backup data from disk to tape, replication of a HyperStream server over the WAN, as well as the ability to perform data restorations from the closest HyperStream server for optimal speed. New virtualization support includes an enhancement of the VMware agent with vSphere support, as well as new Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix Xen agents.
