ADIC adds Fibre Channel to libraries

ADIC may become the first tape library manufacturer to field Fibre Channel-based units this month when it begins shipping its Scalar 218FC. Fibre Channel tape libraries allow users to network-attach libraries and to take advantage of the long cable distances of Fibre Channel.

The Scalar 218FC is based on the 218 model with two DLT drives and 18 cartridge positions for a maximum capacity of 1.27TB and a native transfer rate of 10MBps. The Fibre Channel library is priced at 15% more than a SCSI version. Contact Advanced Digital Information at (425) 881-8004,
