GEMS 1.0 addresses centralized management

Legato Systems` Global Enterprise Management of Storage (GEMS) Version 1.0 provides centralized management of distributed storage resources. GEMS tools allow administrators to manage multiple Legato "data zones," including policy-based administration, software distribution, media management, and software licensing. Prices start at $3,000. Separately, Legato, and MTI Technology Corp. have introduced RLM for NetWorker, a distributed robotic library management system that combines Legato`s NetWorker software with a new version of MTI`s Robotic Library Management software. RLM is available as an option to NetWorker.

Features include parallel backup and recovery sessions, concurrent device support, and platform interoperability. RLM for NetWorker is available for Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, and HP-UX platforms, starting at $2,250. Legato was expected to announce support for Windows NT this month.
