Andataco supports Fibre Channel

Joining the growing ranks of RAID vendors supporting the emerging Fibre Channel interface, Andataco last month added support for the emerging technology to its GigaRAID line of disk arrays. Andataco is targeting specific vertical markets, including oil and gas exploration, video, data warehousing, and on-line transaction processing database environments.

The GigaRAID/FC comes in three configurations:

- The 3400/3500 offers a field-upgrade option from standard SCSI to Fibre Channel.

- The GigaRAID/FC 5000 provides up to 10 dual-ported Fibre Channel disk drives in JBOD or RAID configurations.

- The model 5400/5500 uses one or two storage processors in a hardware-based RAID configuration. Up to 11 ten-drive units can be connected for as much as one terabyte of capacity.

Prices for the GigaRAID/FC array range from $54,339 to 91GB in a model 5000 chassis to $229,996 for 273GB in a dual-active model 5500 configuration with 32MB of mirrored cache.
