Mylex announces i960-based RAID controller

Mylex recently added a midrange RAID controller, the DACPGM, to its product line. Designed for PC servers, the controller is powered by an Intel i960 RISC processor. Mylex claims increased performance is due to the dedicated RISC processor offloading RAID functions from the host CPU.

The DACPGM supports up to three PCI-to-UltraSCSI RAID channels and data throughput of 40MBps per channel, or up to 120MBps per controller. The product supports RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5, 0+1, 10, 30, 50, and JBOD. DACPGM controller pricing starts at $860 for the one-channel version, $990 for the two-channel configuration, and $1,200 for three channels.

With the introduction of the midrange DACPGM RAID controller, Mylex also announced 50% price reductions for its DACPLM entry-level RAID controllers.
