HP intros network-attached CD-ROM server

Hewlett-Packard this month began shipping the SureStore CD-ROM Server/Tower 7 and 7Plus, which allow users to share CDs over a network. Based on thin-server technology, the CD-ROM server operates independently of host file servers. The servers also support DVD-ROM. Features include:

- Support for 10BaseT/100Base-TX networks.

- Access to as many as 70 CDs.

- Support for SCSI-2 CD-ROMs, CD changers, and DVD-ROMs.

Pricing ranges from $1,200 to $3,000.
